Sri Lankan Elephants have congregated in various dry zone areas where water and food are plentiful. One of the most spectacular wildlife events in Sri Lanka is the large gathering of elephants in Minneriya. During the dry season, from August to mid-October, 200-300 elephants assemble on the expansive grassy plains of the Minneriya Reservoir for grazing and socializing.
